A few months ago, we celebrated a very special birthday in our family: Mom’s 60th! There was BBQ, there was music, there was dancing, and there was… bunting. We had bunting everywhere – on the cake, framing the photo booth, and behind the buffet. The bunting drew the whole event together – plus it looked so cute! Check out the photos below, and find a link for a free printable download to make your own cake bunting!
We used large rolls of Kraft paper to cover the table – recyclable and easy. Mason jars filled with little bunches of baby’s breath and Gerbera daisies adorned the tables along with a few jars filled with tiny twinkle lights (available at your local craft store or on Amazon).
We tied in the indoors and outdoors with bunting, baby’s breath, and mason jars.
As a rule, I am not a huge fan of your typical sheet cake. Add a lovely quote or a simple design, and I’m all about it though. I searched high and low for sheet cake ideas that went with the overall rustic and simple theme we were going with – and with the other two white cakes that we had. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the way these rosettes turned out, especially with the simple kraft bunting and baker’s twine.
Once of my favorite parts of the party design process is the dessert bar. Cakes. Cookies. Turtles. Petit fours. You cannot go wrong with petit fours. One of my brothers has a particular penchant for petit fours – but who doesn’t?
And just for good measure, one more cake… a rustic icing cake with long candles and more bunting.
Finally, we added a little DIY iPad photo booth, which was so much fun. There will be more on this coming soon, but for now, just a quickie snapshot of the photo booth backdrop, which included a simple white-washed bench, a wooden pergola archway, and (you guessed it!) more bunting!
What do you think? Have you used bunting in your parties? What other ways would you like to see bunting for a party?
