If you’ve read the post on the Bunting Birthday Party, you may have seen the bunting birthday cakes – of which there were three! As promised, here are two free printable for cake bunting – the blank cake bunting and the “Happy Birthday” bunting!
These printables were optimized for a 5×7 piece of paper and are available via PDF and PNG.
For the bunting, you’ll need:
- the printable, all nice and printed out on your 5×7″ piece of paper
- two wooden food skewers
- baker’s twine
- hot glue
- scissors or a paper cutter
For safety, always have a responsible adult do the steps that require scissors, a paper cutter, or hot glue!
To make the bunting:
- Start by printing out the bunting diamonds and cut out each diamond along the diagonal. The printable is optimized so that if you have a paper cutter, you can quickly cut along each diagonal.
- Once you have all of your diamonds cut out, fold them in half (along the “horizontal” line).
- If you’re printing out the “Happy Birthday” bunting, arrange your letters in the proper order.
- Cut two pieces of baker’s twine that are about 20-24″ in length. These will be much too long, but better to work with a little extra. You’ll put the “happy” and “birthday” each on their own piece of baker’s twine.
- Paste each letter on the string by folding in half and squeezing the glue in between each half. Make sure the baker’s twine is in the crease of each triangle.
- After finishing each string, tie the strings to two skewers. You may have to cut the skewers down a bit with scissors, as I found they were a bit long for a cake.
